Steve Winistorfer, CEO/President of TECO, started TECO’s PELICE week off with clients and invited guests at a local restaurant to share ideas about emerging issues in our industry—and share a little food and drink. The venue boosted the spirits of friends and colleagues who had been weighed down by the topic on everyone’s mind, the economy.

Optimistic about the future, Winistorfer focused TECO’s Friday session on Emerging Issues for Engineered Wood Products and Panel Producers. The session moderator did have to call some audibles due to the epic East Coast snow storm that prevented two of the speakers from making it to Atlanta. TECO’s experience as a certification agency with clients across the globe, as well as a Green Building Verifier and CARB certification agency allowed Winistorfer and his panel to cover a wide range of topics, including moisture management dynamics, green building standards, and the Lacey Act. The sessions were well attended, and Winistorfer received positive responses from attendees.

Organizers of the Panel & Engineered Lumber International Conference & Expo (PELICE) announce that Sandvik and Southern Environmental have joined the growing list of event sponsors.

PELICE will be held February 4-6, 2010 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The first PELICE was held in 2008 and attracted 90 speakers, 90 exhibitors and 600 registrants.

Dieffenbacher Doesn’t Hold Back

Dieffenbacher Group’s Wood-Based Panel Division has joined PELICE 2010 as a Gold Sponsor. The German-headquartered business, known for supplying turnkey plants to the worldwide panel industries, has been extremely aggressive in 2009 in expanding operations.

Earlier this year. Dieffenbacher assumed majority ownership of Shanghai Wood Based Panel Machinery, and most recently Dieffenbacher acquired B. Maier, a manufacturer of chips and particle preparation systems.

Also, Dieffenbacher announced it would supply a turnkey OSB plant to Hubei Baoyuan Group of China. In addition, Dieffenbacher is emphasizing its turnkey capabilities to supply wood pellet plants.
